The iPhone is one of the most popular smartphones on the market, and for good reason. It's sleek, powerful, and user-friendly. But even with all of its bells and whistles, there are still some things that even the most diehard Apple fan might not know about their beloved device. Here are 5 iPhone tips and tricks you didn't know about:
1. Take advantage of Siri Shortcuts
Siri Shortcuts are a great way to get things done quickly and easily on your iPhone. With Siri Shortcuts, you can create custom commands that will trigger a specific action. For example, you could create a shortcut that would open the Camera app with just one tap. To create a Siri Shortcut, open the Settings app and tap on Siri & Search. Tap on the + icon next to Shortcuts to get started.
2. Use AirDrop to share files wirelessly
AirDrop is a great way to share files between two iOS devices without having to use any cords or cables. To use AirDrop, simply open the Control Center and tap on the AirDrop icon. Select the person you want to share the file with from the list of options that appears. Once they accept the transfer, the file will be sent wirelessly to their device.
3. Save time with Text Replacement shortcuts
Text Replacement shortcuts are a great way to save time when typing on your iPhone. With Text Replacement, you can create abbreviations for long words or phrases that will automatically be expanded when you type them out. For example, you could create a shortcut for “omw” that would automatically expand to “On my way!” To create a Text Replacement shortcut, open the Settings app and tap on General > Keyboard > Text Replacement. Tap on the + icon to add a new shortcut.
4. Take Live Photos without sound
Live Photos are a great way to capture special moments, but sometimes you might not want the sound of your voice or the background noise to be included in the final product. To take a Live Photo without sound, simply open the Camera app and tap on the Live Photo icon at the top of the screen (it looks like three concentric circles). Then, press and hold on the shutter button to take your Live Photo as usual. When you're done, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to view your Live Photo gallery—all of your Live Photos will be there, including those without sound.
5. Use iCloud Keychain to save passwords and credit card information securely
iCloud Keychain is a great way to save time when entering passwords and credit card information into websites and apps on your iPhone. With iCloud Keychain, all of your passwords and credit card information is safely stored in iCloud so you don't have to remember it all yourself—and because it's stored in iCloud, it's accessible from all of your devices! To turn on iCloud Keychain, open the Settings app and tap on iCloud > Keychain > Turn On iCloud Keychain
